The above statement is a quote from a letter by the President of the Pontifical Council for the Laity to CFC Executive Director, Joe Tale on April 3, 2008, which clarified several issues involving CFC in the Philippines, among them, the existence of another group in the Philippines using the same name. This other group call themselves CFC-FFL.
One concern that was also clarified is that CFC remains on solid ground with its work with the poor, Gawad Kalinga, contrary to impressions that it may have become anti-life.
There will always be issues along the way for us to face and resolve as the Lord expands the work, but clearly, GK is a blessing from God. It is not only "social action" but an opportunity for all of us to seve as His humble instruments in restoring the dignity of the poor and sharing with them the fullness of His love.
CFC reiterates its being one with the Catholic Church and its commitments to pursue the fulness of its mission: Building the church of the Home and Building the church of the Poor.
We appeal to the CBCP and the entire Philippine Clergy to recognize only one CFC as per Vatican's guideline to prevent confusion, division and scandal among the faithful. We also appeal for your clearer understandgin and support of the totality of its work for evangelization, family renewal and total Christian liberation.
